The Gaelic name “Gavin” means “white hawk” which seemed fitting for this boy. Gavin is a high spirited, full of energy, bundle of fur! He is white with biscuit markings on his shoulders and across his hip area. Gavin’s looks can best be described as being a “pretty” Samoyed rather than “handsome”. We have been able to take advantage of his exuberance by working him at lead for the Prairie Isle sled team. For the last 4 ½ years (yes, he starting working in harness at 6 months of age) he has excelled at showing his natural leadership qualities. All I have to do is explain to this boy his task (and I mean literally explain to him) and he will do everything in his power to do what you ask of him. He is smart, quick to learn, focused on the task at hand and eager to please his humans. He moves quickly and lightly on his feet but with a strong drive. He is a natural leader in harness.

Here is Gavin at 7.5 weeks. We picked him up at 9 weeks and his ears are up now.

Gavin has settled in quickly with the other dogs. Callie and Gav are best buddies and they play for hours nonstop. Please check back often to see Gavin grow and become a Prairie Isle sleddog.
