DIRECTIONS:  From I-29 North or South, take the 32nd Avenue exit and head east on 32nd to Columbia Road.  Turn right on Columbia Road and head south to 47th Avenue.  Turn left on 47th Avenue and head east.  Check-in and refreshments will be located inside South Middle School (Door 2).  Please park in the main school parking lot to the east of the bike transition area.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The duathlon will be a run-bike-run format, with distances of approximately 3 miles for each run leg and 15 miles for the bike leg.
RUN:   Both run legs follow the same out-and-back course on bike paths and city streets.  There is one water station on the run course at approximately 1.5 miles (the turnaround point), as well as a water station at the transition area.  The entire run course is flat.
BIKE:  The bike leg routes participants a short distance west on 47th Avenue to Columbia Road; then south (left) on Columbia for 2 miles to 12th Avenue South (the Merrifield road); then west (right) on the Merrifield road for 2 miles to a turnaround point; then back east to the intersection with Columbia Road; then south (right) on the Columbia Road extension for 3 miles to the second turnaround point; then back north for 5 miles to the insection with 47th Avenue; then east (right) to South Middle School, and two right turns back into the transition area.  The entire bike course is on paved or blacktop highway. There is one water station on the bike course at approximately at 9.5 miles.  The bike course is entirely flat, except for the slight rise of the I-29 overpass.  A bike support crew will be roaming the bike course during the race.

The 5K and 10K run/walk courses have the same start and finish lines as the duathlon, but branch off shortly after the start to follow a separate course on bike paths and city streets.  Both are out-and-back courses with water stations at approximately 1.5 miles (5K turnaround, which 10K runners also pass by), and 3.1 miles (10K turnaround).
